Washington State’s House Finance Committee has passed a bill that would establish a large tax on vapor products.
House Bill 2165 was moved forward by the Finance Committee by a vote of 7 to 4. The proposal was filed by State Representative Paul Harris (R) along with six Democratic representatives. It “Imposes a 60 percent tax on vapor products”, and “Creates the Essential Public Health Services account.”
In addition, the legislation “Authorizes the Governor to enter into vapor products taxation compacts with federally recognized Indian tribes, and establishes requirements for such compacts.”
